Beginning Encaustics at First Impressions

Encaustic Painting is an artistic method first used in ancient Egypt where wax containing pigments is applied by heat. Encaustic means to “burn in" and that is what you will do with a heat gun, beeswax, and lots of great colored pigments. The assemblages of various size include fabric, printed media, and wax on a wood ”canvas. Encaustic gives you a wider range of colors, looks, and textures in your art than just adding beeswax. I will show you how to get different and better results in your paintings and collages that are also archival. This class will give you all the set up and information you will need to get started plus several basic techniques. 4-hours including a lunch break. *Box Lunch ($6.00) available.
