Darlene’s “Colliape” was featured in the Sept/Oct 2005 issue of Somerset Studio

“I love vintage children’s toys so this piece was so fun for me, as I was able to use a children’s plastic toy piano as the base for this sculpture. The inspiration for this piece are the memories I had as a child going to the Oaks Park roller skating rink. The Rink had a huge pipe organ playing all the music for the skate session.
I named this piece “Calliope”, which is the name for a smaller pipe organ that that was used earlier in the century at circuses or carnivals. The name also comes from the Greek mythological Muse of poetry.”
